New artwork: Barbie-Q, A Mixed Race Couple, The Diary of Anne Frank

October 26, 2010

Barbie’s are on a grill in the form of kabobs. Its your typical Barbie-Q. The meat part is substituted with the upper body (no head, just chest), butts and a few arms of the Barbie. In other words Barbie on a stick. Enjoy!

This piece is about a story and there’s a story about this piece:

LaVonne made this piece in conjunction with the Mira Theater’s (Vallejo) production of the Diary of Anne Frank and was invited, along with other artists, to show her work before and after the show. Jean, who coordinated the artists said to LaVonne in an email:

“Your piece made a woman cry the other night, wow. Very powerful piece. Thank you. It’s been one of the best shows we’ve had at the theater.”
