Recent Artwork SOLD and new photo album on Facebook

April 21, 2010

This month LaVonne sold the below pieces. We realized that sold pieces theoretically will no longer appear in LaVonne’s Etsy shop, on the OOAK Barbies website, or in the gallery at the OOAK shop in Vallejo. Of course we can’t let the Barbies who have gone on to bigger and better things become forgotten – what an absurd notion! – so I added a photo album to the OOAK Barbies Facebook page that will serve as a memory scrapbook of all the OOAK Barbies artworks that have been sold.

The album is named SOLD! OOAK Barbie artwork and each photo includes a caption that describes the piece as well as the date the piece was sold. Click here to check out this new album, but keep in mind there aren’t many photos in the album quite yet. It will take some time to add photos of all the pieces LaVonne has sold over the years. Also keep in mind that you may have to sign up for Facebook to view the album there.

If you don’t feel like signing up for Facebook right now, I understand! That’s why I have included photos of LaVonne’s most recently sold pieces right here in this blog post.  Enjoy!

EAST INDIAN BARBIE IN MEHANDI ART ON A HORSE IN MEHANDI – sold April, 2010
$350.00, HEIGHT 15 1/2”  WIDTH 13”  LENGTH 6 1/2”

I painted her body in the Art of Mehandi and the Horse is covered in that same style of painting. This art work is usually done in a Henna Tattoo on a bride the night before her wedding.  Her female friends and relatives paint her as they educate her on ways to please her husband sexually. On the day of the wedding when the husband sees how much of her body is covered he has some hit of how pleased he will be.  I retouched her lip stick but left the face as it was because she is so beautiful. Her eyes are brown and she has on gold shoulder length ear rings. Her hair is black and I put it in a pony tail with a twist to match the tail of the horse. The horses body was white and his main and tail are black.
